Position: Nurse Therapist
Salary Range: $36.03 - $44.34 per hour (ONA)

This position is being offered on permanent part-time basis working 21 hours per week.
Within a multidisciplinary team, the Nurse Therapist will support the coordination, identification/screening, diagnostic, and intervention services for individuals experiencing mental illness or concurrent disorder. Masters in Nursing preferred. Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a recognized University is required, as is current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario. CNA Certification in psychiatric/mental health nursing preferred. Minimum 3-5 years mental health experience with skills, knowledge, commensurate with the provision of psychiatric services. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Travel will be required between locations within Halton Region. Incumbent must supply own transportation and have a valid driver’s license.
Using standards of promoting health, building individual/community capacity, building relationships, facilitating access and equity, and professional responsibility and accountability, the nursing duties will include the following:
Provides expertise in psychiatric nursing to clients in collaboration with NHMHC team and community partners for a high number of individuals in need of psychiatric care. Care may be provided in group, but will largely be offered in clinic settings at any of three NHMHC sties.
Implements clinical best practices, engages in therapeutic partnerships with clients, their families, and other community resources.
Conducts initial assessment interviews, administers structured clinical scales, develops treatment plans based on client goals, knowledge of psychiatric and psychosocial treatment modalities.
Use recovery and rehabilitation models in assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of client care and family centred interventions.
Liaises and advocates between the client, family, other members of the treatment team and the larger treatment community.
Participates in team, regional and/or community based group planning, implementation and evaluation as needed
Provides regular written and phone communication with client’s primary care practitioner and client’s family, with client’s consent
Completes required documentation and statistical collection in a timely manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
